HMS Bounty Shipwreck artifacts w/provenance from Tom Christian Pitcairn Island

HMS Bounty Shipwreck artifacts with provenance from Tom Christian Pitcairn Island
From the Collection of Dr. Kristian Waaben

This extraordinary lot includes authentic artifacts from the HMS Bounty, the infamous ship at the center of the Mutiny on the Bounty in April 1789. These relics originate from the esteemed collection of Dr. Kristian Waaben, a close friend of Tom Christian of Pitcairn Island, a direct descendant of Fletcher Christian, the leader of the mutiny. Dr. Waaben was also a good friend of renowned shipwreck explorer Robert F. Marx.

Included in This Lot:
    Historical Documentation:

  •         A colored reproduction image of the HMS Bounty.
  •         A colored reproduction image of Tom Christian, accompanied by a printed note from Dr. Kristian Waaben detailing the artifacts' provenance.

Authentic HMS Bounty Relics (as documented by Dr. Waaben):

  •         A copper nail from the ship’s copper hull sheathing.
  •         A piece of the copper sheathing from the hull.
  •         A piece of wood from the ship.
  •         A piece of iron from the vessel.
  •         The bottle is not a period piece, this is how the items were received by Dr. Waaben from Tom Christian.

Each of these items was originally stored in a glass bottle as received from Dr. Waaben. To ensure preservation and safe transport, we will individually secure each piece in protective packaging.

    Additional Documentation:
A copy of a letter from Robert F. Marx, dated April 9, 2001, referencing the HMS Bounty artifacts owned by Dr. Waaben. The letter also mentions items from the HMS Pandora, which are being listed separately.

Provenance & Historical Significance:

Before setting the HMS Bounty ablaze, the mutineers salvaged all useful materials, many of which are now displayed in the Pitcairn Island Museum. The remnants of the ship’s hull still lie just offshore. These rare artifacts serve as a tangible connection to one of the most legendary maritime events in history.

For reference, a single HMS Bounty nail sold at auction for £3,813 GBP (approx. $5,000 USD) on November 13, 2013.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire genuine artifacts from one of history’s most famous ships.
